Multi-sponsored session: Five years until the 2030 elimination targets: Harnessing momentum, celebrating progress and stimulating collective action
Information
Despite being preventable, cervical cancer still claims the life of a woman every two minutes – 94% of them in low- and middle-income countries. This multi-partner session titled “Five years until the 2030 elimination targets: Harnessing momentum, celebrating progress and stimulating collective action” will seek to celebrate and highlight the actionable strategies that are enabling countries to reach the elimination targets, and to address the inequities in access to services, within countries and populations, and across regions.
The session will showcase country experiences and progress towards the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem, including Sweden, Fiji Nigeria and Indonesia, bringing to the fore the regional and multi-sectoral collaborations that are supporting these country-led efforts. Building on these examples, the session will also look forward, exploring opportunities to address key challenges, such as financing, access to diagnostics and treatment, which are critical to ensuring that no women is left behind in the journey toward elimination.
In line with the audience and focus of the WCLS, the session will convene leaders from governments, academia, industry, and civil society to share experiences, inspire and strengthen future efforts.
This session is led by UICC, developed and hosted in partnership with the Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC), Elimination Partnership in the Indo-Pacific for Cervical Cancer (EPICC), MD Anderson Cancer Center.
