Objectives
This session introduces the American Cancer Society’s Building Expertise, Advocacy, and Capacity for Oncology Navigation (BEACON) Initiative, a global initiative which supports health institutions and cancer organizations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and other relevant settings around the world in the design and implementation of cancer patient navigation programs. It also features the patient navigation program experiences and insights of 4 BEACON Community Participating Organizations from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, highlighting the challenges they have faced, the support that has been most useful to move forward in program implementation, and the innovative solutions or contextual elements that have contributed to success. This session provides a global audience with a wealth of experience to apply to their own new or existing patient navigation programs. This session targets health care workers and leadership from health institutions and cancer organization staff, primarily from low- and middle-income countries.
