Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the world’s leading independent funder of cancer research, dedicated to saving lives through research, influencing, and campaign-led action. By funding world-class science across prevention, early detection, and treatment, CRUK has helped double cancer survival in the UK over the past 50 years and contributed to major breakthroughs globally.

Recognising that cancer is a global issue, CRUK works extensively across international boundaries to tackle the toughest challenges in cancer control. Through pioneering global initiatives—such as Cancer Grand Challenges, the International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED), and the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership (ICBP)—it brings together multidisciplinary teams worldwide to accelerate innovation and address global variances in patient outcomes.

Policy engagement is central to Cancer Research UK’s mission. CRUK leverages rigorous scientific evidence to influence government policy, championing transformative measures in tobacco control, early diagnosis, and HPV vaccination. The International Cancer Prevention (ICP) programme supports civil society organisations and research institutions in multiple low- and middle-income countries, building local advocacy capacity and driving evidence-based legislation that promotes Tobacco Control and HPV prevention. Through international scientific collaboration and active policy advocacy at the global level, Cancer Research UK is committed to helping people around the world live longer, better lives, and to shaping a future where we will beat cancer.
