Objectives
This session will highlight several research breakthroughs and educational insights presented at the 2024 ASCO Annual Meeting that are especially important to the global oncology community.  Innovations in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology to improve the delivery of cancer care will be summarized, including a study on the comparative effectiveness of early palliative care delivered via telehealth versus in person and a study using AI to support virtual patient navigation in cancer screening. A groundbreaking study in the treatment of stage III melanoma evaluating optimal timing and duration of immunotherapy will be presented, as well a review of several high profile abstracts evaluating the role of precision medicine approaches – including immunotherapy and targeted agents - in the treatment of lung cancer.  Important educational sessions on optimizing and measuring the quality of cancer care and models for promoting value-based, patient-centered cancer care will also be presented and discussed.
