Objectives
Imagine the impact if organizations working in women’s health, breast diagnostics, and breast cancer treatment could increase their capacity to educate, collaborate, and improve early detection of breast cancer in the communities they serve. This is the mission of the World Breast Alliance. Launched in 2024, the World Breast Alliance (WBA) brings together more than 80 of the leading breast cancer organizations, government entities, and healthcare partners from around the world who all share the goal of fostering collaboration to implement the WHO’s Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) to decrease the global breast cancer burden. In the current ecosystem, key stakeholders work with intense focus and devotion to the patient populations they serve, unintentionally leading to a replication of efforts that can stunt progress. During this interactive session, we will explore how the WBA has implemented a global partnership strategy to share design, tools, and resources that can be leveraged across diverse cultures and are directly aimed at addressing the three key pillars identified in the GBCI so we can all save more lives from breast cancer, together. We will be joined by WBA members already making an impact in their communities through shared resources and take a deeper dive into GBCI Pillar 1: health promotion for early detection and investigate the necessity of this foundational step for improving breast cancer mortality rates worldwide.
