Objectives
The successful management of cancer relies on effective antibiotics. But when antibiotics are no longer effective, people who are immunocompromised – like those living with cancer – are disproportionately affected. The rise of drug-resistant pathogens is compromising cancer care outcomes, threatening to undermine the strides made in cancer treatment and care. In this WCC session, patients and physicians at the frontline of this deadly nexus will share how they navigate cancer care and the threat posed by treatment-resistant infections. The dialogue will provide a wider perspective on what it means to manage a patient’s health and for the oncology community to integrate antimicrobial resistance into cancer advocacy.
